Fix QuickBooks Error 140305 while running financial exchange

Causes of QuickBooks Error 140305

You can get the error 140305 in these events:

  • You have added the maximum number of customers to your QuickBooks for Windows list.
  • Your customer list or company file in QuickBooks for Windows is broken.

Methods to Fix the QuickBooks Error Code 140305

To continue operating your financial exchange, follow these instructions.

Solution 1: Remove customers from QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale who have no transactions.

The list of customers in QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale gets combined up with the list in QuickBooks for Windows. In QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale, you can eliminate customers to ensure that your list is maximized:

  • Select Customer List from the Customers menu.
  • To find out which customers don’t have any balances, run the following report:
  • Choose I wish to from the drop-down option on the Customer List window.
  • Select General – Customer List, then click Run a report.
  • From the top menu, choose Modify.
  • Select Columns, then Add or Remove.
  • Check the box next to Account Balance, then click Save.
  • Choose Print if you want to keep a copy of the list. Select Close once you’re finished.
  • Choose the customers you want to remove from the report while holding down the Ctrl key.
  • Choose Delete from the left menu.
  • To confirm, type “YES,” then hit “OK.”
  • Perform a financial exchange again.

Continue to solution 2 if you still  encounter a problem.

Solution 2: Remove customers from QuickBooks for Windows who have no transactions.

If you’ve hit the limit, you can eliminate customers who haven’t made any transactions. This free up space and makes room for additional clients.

To eliminate customers:

  • Hit F2 or Ctrl+1 on your keyboard.
  • Navigate to the “List Information” section of the Product Information window.
  • Verify that you have more customers than the permitted 14,500.
  • Select Customer Center from the Customers menu.
  • To eliminate a customer, perform a right-click and then choose Delete Customer:Job.

Note: Subitem customers cannot be deleted. Make sure the subitems are first deleted or moved.

  • For more customers, repeat the steps 4 and 5.
  • Do a financial exchange again.
  • Your customer list may be damaged if you are still unable to run an exchange. Go to solution 3 to resolve it.

Solution 3: Rearrange the list of customers.

  • Select Customer Center from the Customers menu.
  • Select Re-sort list from the View menu.
  • Choose OK.
  • Perform a transaction exchange once more.
